Join the Nature’s SAFE team for an interactive virtual workshop exploring the journey of a biological sample – from collection at your organisation through to its long-term preservation in our biobank.

We’ll begin with an introduction to Nature’s SAFE, who we are, what we do, and how biobanking can support the conservation of threatened species. You’ll get a virtual look behind the scenes at the laboratories and learn why collecting and preserving high-quality biological samples is so important.

​

We’ll then head into the lab, where the Nature's SAFE team will demonstrate practical sample collection techniques and talk through how to collect, handle and prepare samples for Nature’s SAFE. You’ll also see what happens when a sample arrives with the team, including how it is processed and prepared for long-term storage.

​

Finally, we’ll visit our tank store to see where samples are preserved for the future – completing the journey from animal to biobank.

​

There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions throughout, with a dedicated Q&A session at the end. The workshop is designed to be practical and relevant to zoo and aquarium professionals and will help participants feel more confident about collecting samples that can make a valuable contribution to conservation.
